hello, I want to make these with my nieces when they come up from houston in the summer for a visit. My questions are:
1. does the glitter fall from the necklace when wearing
2. when using the pencil: do you push down the whole area or just one?
Thank you so much! Loving your page
Bobbie says
no the glitter becomes encased in the mod podge and does not fall off at all. I just pushed the pencil through in about 3 random spots. Have fun!

Wanted to do thus since I lost an opal. Thank you!!

Wanted to do something like this since I list an opal out of a favorite necklace ~ thank you!!

Can you complete this craft using sand instead of glitter?

I’ve looked everywhere for this Mod Podge Dimensional Magic – $5.00 No one seem to know where I can find it. Micheal’s or Hobby Lobby, Jo Ann’s or Walmart. SO what and where do I find it?. It is not with regular Mod Podge Please email and tell me where to get. tljwljw2 @ suddenlink.net
Thanks Wanda
Bobbie says
I buy it at Hobby Lobby where all the other Mod Podge is at.
Kathy says
Amazon has it.

Hello! This is such an interesting project to try! But I wonder if there’s any substitute to the Mod Podge? The local craft store here doesn’t sell Mod Podge Dimensional Magic. I could order it online, but only from foreign online sellers which will cost me more than a cup of Starbucks, I guess.
Thanks!
Bobbie says
you could use an epoxy resin but it’s messier.
Francine Salter says
resin is not that bad, my necklaces come out beautiful and shinny, but i am going to try it your way and see the difference, resin takes longer to dry, but i love the out come
Bobbie says
I’m on the fence about resin. I think it’s a great product that dries harder and more durable but I still like Mod Podge products.
Sonnia says
I tried using Dimensional Magic but wasn’t pleased at all. My pieces domed beautifully but once dried sunk in the center. I’d seen reviews (after purchasing it) saying this happens. Any suggestions?
Bobbie Byrd says
You would need to use resin to get a really great dome or do the dimensional magic in two steps. Do a base layer and then build up a second layer after dry but your best bet would be using resin.

I have not had any experience with Mod Podge since i couldn’t find it. I did make up my own substitute from what i found on Pinterest. You mix up a combination of water and elmer’s glue and it works pretty good. I have put it on shoe heels and it has stuck pretty well. On the other parts of shoes that get a lot of creasing you will have some flake off with the sparkles but not as much as you might think. Surface preparation is key for that application. Clean the surface well from wax and oils and then gently rough up the surface with a bit of sandpaper. Good effect, but try other materials too. Sparkles get a bit too bling-ey sometimes. Colored sands can work well too.

Hi! I was wondering if you had any good craft ideas to do with rings that have sentimental value. My best friend us getting married and we have these two rings we bought together a few years ago but I don’t want to just give her the same ring.. I want to see if there’s a way I can re-gift or to get in a different way.
Bobbie says
Oh that’s so sweet. I don’t have any crafts but you may want to look up wire wrapping on Pinterest. You could do a pretty wire wrapping around it and turn it into a necklace. Or maybe mount it and frame it in a shadow box with some other memories?

I use glittery nail polish and they make glass bevels to go on top. The nail polish makes the bevel stick…..your idea is good idea variant!

Hi, I want to make this necklace for my friend. But, the thing is I’m from India and I might not get Mod Podge here…therefore, can you help me with an alternative or tell me what chemical this mod podge is so that I can check with the art and craft’s store here!
Bobbie says
I’m not sure how to make that form of mod podge but you should be able to use resin. Just follow in the instructions on the resin.
Michele Kernechel says
Will Mod Podge work for making beach sand pendants? I want to create sand pendants, using sand from various beaches.
Bobbie says
Yes!
Beth Saguto says
So you don’t need to put a cap of any kind on the bezel once it’s finished?
Bobbie Byrd says
No it’s done.
Mujib says
I loved it…but..I wanna ask something
is it possible to write name on the necklace.?
Bobbie Byrd says
You could probably buy very small letter charms and push them down into the mixture before it’s hardened but I don’t think it would fit a whole name, probably just initials.
Maura says
I made a necklace like this with regular modge podge and sand and it did not turn out, so I look forward to trying it your way with the dimensional magic. My question is, why do you push down in it with a pencil? What does this do?
Bobbie Byrd says
It just seals it all within the pendant. You can just try sprinkling it on top but some of it will come off after it’s dry.
Carly says
Hi we made the glitter pendant necklaces with Mod Podge. We followed the directions exactly and glitter is still coming off. Can we seal it with something? Thank you so much for your time.
