- Do not fill it with little toys or foam pieces. It sounds great but if you’ve ever stepped on a tiny lego than you know how badly the tiniest piece of material can hurt your feet.
- You must use a flat surface. Even the tiniest hill can cause the water to pool on one side.
- Add water on top of the water blob to make it a giant slip and slide.
- Lay on it to read when the kids take their naps. The water inside stays cool for a really long time.
- Recycle the plastic or cut it open, let it dry and then store the plastic in your garage to use again or to use in the yard at a later date.
- You can place a hose inside and duct tape it onto the water blob to help disperse water over your yard when your kids are done playing.

[…] How do you make one? All you need is one big roll of plastic sheeting and duct tape. (If you want to know how to use an iron to seal the edges of the Water Blob instead of duct tape, check out this tutorial.) […]

[…] You might not have a pool in your backyard but chances are you have one in your community. Go take a dip! Check out your local rivers and lakes too. If you can find a spot in the shade near some water you’ll be loads happier and the temp is sure to be a few degrees cooler. If that’s not something you’re into, consider setting up a sprinkler in your yard. Even just sitting outside as the sprinkler runs will bring you some relief. Be sure to adhere to any watering restrictions you might have in your community. If none of those will do it, try making a water blob! […]

Hi
I just made one this past week for a small kids camp water obstacle coarse. Everyone had so much fun with this! We put a sprinkler on top of the waterblob to make it more challenging to walk through.
My advice that i would add is:
-our Lowes only had 3mm as the thickest. Homedept had 6mm!
-I duct taped the edges, but i shouldve taped the edges between where i fused the plastic and where the water was. When we filled it with water, we discovered pin size holes where we must’ve over tried with the iron
We had so much fun, we’ll have to do this again! Thanks for all your help!
